GOLD COAST non-profit multicultural group Seharum Nusantara helped enhance the Gold Coast’s reputation as a multicultural city with their colourful featured performance at the annual Multicultural Festival held on Sunday August 12, 2018 in the Broadwater Parklands at Southport.
Seharum Nusantara’s performance featured eight dancers dressed in radiant costumes inspired by West Papua traditional dance attire.
The dancers performed a Papuan dance called Yospan, meaning “Welcome!” to a packed audience in the Parklands
The festival was officially opened by Queensland Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Stirling Hinchliffe.
He applauded the ever-growing Gold Coast community for its multicultural diversity and inclusion.
“Our diversity is at the heart of who we are as Queenslanders and the Gold Coast has shown it is a wonderfully diverse and welcoming community,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
